Advancing Inclusive Research Opportunities in the UK

At Real Support Academy, we are committed to reducing structural inequalities in education, digital participation, and access to research opportunities for Black and Mixed Black heritage learners across the UK—while extending this support to other marginalised communities and individuals from low-income or non-traditional educational backgrounds.

We work at the intersection of education, technology, and social impact, supporting individuals who are often excluded from traditional academic and research pathways. This includes learners from low-income backgrounds, refugees, migrants, and those with non-traditional educational journeys.

Our approach goes beyond access—we focus on pathway creation.

🎓 What We Do

We design and deliver research-informed training and progression pathways that equip learners with the skills, confidence, and networks needed to succeed.

Through our programmes, learners gain:

  • 💻 Digital and data skills for research and employment
  • 📊 Practical experience in research, evaluation, and analysis
  • 🎓 Guidance on accessing postgraduate study and academic routes
  • 🤝 Mentorship from professionals and researchers
  • 🌱 Opportunities to engage in community-led and applied research

🤝 Research Partnerships & Impact

As part of our commitment to advancing inclusive research, we have contributed to the seeding of a research initiative in collaboration with the University of East London.

This work focuses on:

  • Digital inequalities in education and society
  • Social exclusion and barriers to participation
  • The lived experiences of forced migrants and marginalised learners

Our role bridges community insight and academic research, ensuring that lived experiences shape meaningful, real-world impact.

We envision a future where:

  • Research careers are accessible to all
  • Diverse communities are represented in knowledge creation
  • Lived experience informs policy, innovation, and social change

We are working to ensure that research is not just inclusive—but transformative.
